Sabbath Day

For an object lesson, discuss the yummy vs. yucky toppings we put on ice cream sundaes. Relate this to the 'toppings' we put on our Sunday. Are the things we are doing on Sunday yummy or yucky? Hand-out can be used as a scripture glue-in.

Don't be a Jerk

For a camp treat, we gave out JERKY. The only catch? The girls had to complete service before they could 'qualify for the blessing' (or in other words, earn their jerky!).

The Purpose of Covenants and Ordinances

In the book "God Wants a Powerful People," Sheri Dew talks about how Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz always had the power to get back home, even though she didn't realize it. She went on a long and dangerous journey looking for help getting home, when all along she had the ruby red slippers.

Our lives are the same. We have the ruby red slippers, or the way home. We have covenants.
Instead of using a ladder like the lesson suggests, I used a yellow brick road (and listed covenants on the road in increasing order).

Even though the picture doesn't show it, attached to the handout was a lollipop sucker in honor of the Lollipop Guild :)
